CANCELLATION POLICY:  if you pay for your event registration and need to cancel, the cancellation policy will be to provide a full refund if you cancel more than two-weeks prior to the event.  Cancellations after that period will be subject to a cancellation fee or no refund if we have already committed to the venue for food and beverages.

    COURSE OUTLINE:

    The 2025 CBC and CFC are effective in CA since January 1st, 2026 and they include significant changes pertaining to Fire Alarm and Signaling Systems based on different occupancy types.
    This training will discuss and clarify the specific requirements and changes from the previous 2022 CA Building and Fire Codes, for both NEW and Existing buildings per occupancy types such as Residential (R-1 and R-2 Occupancies), Business (B occupancy), Assembly (A occupancy), Educational (E Occupancy) and High-Rise buildings. The training will clarify the specific NEW and Changed Fire Alarm and other signaling systems requirements, per the specific occupancy type such as: Which system is required or not required per each occupancy, Manual Vs. Automatic Fire Alarm system requirements , Is automatic smoke detection system required or not, Are Two-Way Emergency Communications Systems (ECS) including ERCEC required or not, and the required interface between these systems with other systems in the building such as sprinkler systems, elevators, fire pumps, smoke-control, suppression systems, etc. This training will be based on all NEW and applicable 2025 applicable codes in CA.

    GENERAL INFORMATION: 

    • Five and one-quarter (5.25) Continuing Education Hours (CEH) will be awarded to students on completion of training.  The CEHs can be converted to Continuing Education Units (CEUs) by the WBFAA.
    • Class size is limited in both locations.  We will implement a wait-list process and encourage you to add yourself to the waitlist as that will be a gauge to us that the class should be re-offered.
    • Our goal for in-person training is to be able to offer at least one in-person training session, in each region, in each calendar quarter. 
    • FPE and CAFAA will be developing new course material to meet the ever-changing needs of our membership, for a fresh, high-quality, California-centric curriculum.
    • Sagiv Weiss-Ishai, P.E. (Calif. Licensed Fire Protection Engineer) is the principal trainer for FPE and will be the instructor for the two sessions in August. 


    *Disclaimer:  As the course trainer, Mr. Weiss-Ishai will not be representing the SFFD policies or procedures in his course delivery. * 

    WHO CAN BENEFIT BY ATTENDING THE CLASS:

    • Fire Alarm and Signaling systems personnel (e.g. Designers, Installers, Technicians, Service personnel, Vendors, Engineers)
    • Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and Code Officials (e.g. Fire, Building, Electrical, Code Enforcers and Plan Reviewers)
    • Electrical and Fire Protection Engineers
    • Fire Inspectors: Plan-check and field inspectors

    MATERIALS PROVIDED: 

    Each student will receive a HARD copy booklet (2-slide per page format, double-sided) at the training site.

    Registering for this event will trigger an email to info@cafaa.com to send you a Certificate of Completion for your attendance at the 04-16-26 CAFAA NorCal AHJ Roundtable meeting.   

    After the completion of the meeting, a Certificate for Continuing Education Hours (CEUs) for Fire Alarm Education Sessions will be sent to you.   The number of hours will be dependent on the length of the session(s).

    The Certificate can then be submitted to the WBFAA for conversion to Continuing Education Hours for application towards the renewal of your State certification.

    CAFAA’s regional AHJ Roundtables bring together industry professionals and Authorities Having Jurisdiction for an informative and engaging discussion on real-world fire alarm and code questions. Questions submitted in advance will be reviewed by the CAFAA Board and presented to a panel of AHJs during the roundtable.

    Submit your questions early to help shape the discussion.

    As an incentive, participants whose questions are selected will have the opportunity to be awarded a prize at the end of the day. You must be present to win.
