COURSE OUTLINE:

The 2025 California Building and Fire Codes (CBC /CFC) are effective in CA since January 1st, 2026. These codes have adopted the 2025 NFPA 72 standard for fire alarm and signaling systems and the 2022 NFPA 1225 for ERCES - Emergency Responders Communications Enhancement systems. 

This training will discuss and clarify all new and applicable codes in the new 2025 CA codes and applicable NFPA standards. 

  • Specify and discuss all types of Emergency Communications Systems included in Chapter 24 of NFPA 72 (ECS)- ONE-WAY and TWO-WAY ECS. 
  • Discuss and clarify the specific requirements for ERCES in Section 510 of the 2025 CFC and the 2022 NFPA 1225 Chapter 18. Specific requirements for the required interface between the Radio Enhancement system and the Building Fire alarm System or a Dedicated Function(s) FA system specified in the 2025 Edition of NFPA 72.
  • Specify the required interface between the ERCES with Elevator systems, survivability levels, and monitoring for integrity per the ASME A17.1 Elevator Code for Leaky Coaxial cables installed in hoistways with specific CA DOSH requirements.
