Why Join CAFAA?
Since 1970, CAFAA has been representing the fire alarm industry. We are a not-for-profit organization with a membership of over 400 fire alarm system professionals united by a strong committment to the California fire alarm industry.
The benefits of CAFAA membership include the following:
automatic membership in the national organization, the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA). After your CAFAA and AFAA membership(s) are processed, you will begin receiving regular email newsletters and training announcement correspondence from both organizations to keep you up-to-date with the most current information.
discounted CAFAA training course fee(s). CAFAA offers 2 to 3 fire alarm related courses each month, conducted in either Northern or Southern California. You can see the course offering(s) at the Training page.
receipt of up-to-date information by attending our regularly scheduled meetings:
There are roundtable meetings held at different locations in the calendar year (twice each in Southern and Northern California). Attending these meetings is a great opportunity to find out what is going on and to network with other fire alarm system professionals and/or to meet with local/state Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) that share our common goal.
The roundtable meeting held in Sacramento is for the purpose of meeting with state officials.
CAFAA’s annual meeting is held each year in Palm Springs. It is a seminar as well as a trade show. It is well attended by local/State AHJs and by industry vendors. You have the opportunity to learn the latest in fire technology and products as well as to talk directly with their representatives.
As a member you can attend any or all of these meetings.
Other membership benefits:
By contacting CAFAA, you have access to a wealth of knowledge and experience for answers to technical questions related to occupancy or fire codes. We have a board of 13 volunteers and a membership of over 400 members from the fire service industry who can help provide information and interpretations. Our Board Members can be reached by mail, phone, fax or internet, or you can direct your question(s) to email@example.com or by phone at (888) 607-5959.
CAFAA works in cooperation with other associations and local/state agencies to provide our membership with information from the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA), California Fire Chiefs Organization, California Building Standards Commission, the National Electrical Manufacturer’s Association (NEMA), the International Association of Fire Chiefs, California Fire Prevention Officers (North and South), California Department of Labor Relations, California Alarm Association (CAA), California State Fire Marshal Office, Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD), Western Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (WBFAA) and National Institute for Certification Engineering Technologies (NICET) and many others.
You will be provided with information on local/national code updates, verification of agreement(s) with local fire jurisdictions and future NFPA and ICC code adoptions.
Membership dues enables us to provide free CAFAA membership to the Fire Protection Officers.
